Finding the perfect gemstone begins as simply as picking your favorite color or one that's most meaningful to you. Whichever color you desire, you'll usually be able to find it in a variety of different gems. For example, if you're looking for something blue, you could consider a sapphire, tanzanite, aquamarine, or others. Likewise, one gemstone can come in an array of different colors. Sapphires, for instance, can be found in blue, pink, yellow, and many more. Although they are sold by carat weight, keep in mind that because gemstones are made of different minerals, they will have different densities. For example, a ruby and an emerald can both weigh 1 ct, but their size will measure differently. Gemstone prices vary based on their Color (how vivid, or saturated, their hue), Cut (their shape and symmetry and how precise the facets are arranged and polished), and Clarity (how free the stone is of inclusions and exclusions). A stone's rarity, durability, and popularity are also key factors that influence their final value. Just like a diamond, the right gemstone will be the one that balances all of these characteristics as equally as possible. Even though the majority of gemstones worldwide are sold uncertified, independent grading labs, like the GIA, do offer gemstone certification services. While it's more commonly reserved for larger, expensive gems, if you truly wish for your stone to be certified, we will send it to an impartial lab on your behalf.* Ring Shop only sells the highest quality, AAA, eco-friendly gemstones that our buyers source from conflict-free parts all over the world. The AAA grade represents the most exquisite gemstones that are eye-clean and have excellent cut and polish. *Certification services are subject to additional charges.
